William Owuraku Aidoo who is the Deputy Minister of Energy says power outages popularly known as ‘Dumsor’ has not returned

There have been power outages in various parts of Accra with many fearing that ‘Dumsor’ has returned.

This got many agitated as it affected many businesses but the Energy Minister has now explained that the recent power issue was due to some technical challenges.

“The issues with the power outages are over. We had a gas supply issue, but it, and all the technical challenges around it, has been rectified, in addition to the technical challenges, we had a shortage of supply of gas from Nigeria. ,”

“We had some technical problems which was why the power had been going off, but I assure the good people of Ghana that the worst is over”

“Normally, the power cantrip. When that happens, the engineers are able to reconnect in no time. When it happens continually and it takes a longer time to fix, it indicates a much bigger problem, to say that dumsor is back is a palpable falsehood.’ he spoke in an interview on the Joy Super Morning show.

The term (Dumsor) gain prominence in August 2012, when the President Mahama led government told Ghanaians that a ship’s anchor cut the West African Gas Pipeline (WAGP), forcing gas turbines to shut down for lack of fuel.

Since then load shedding became regular in Ghana but was minimized in 2015.
