Glorious Accra Hearts of Oak has beaten fierce rivals Kumasi Asante Kotoko 1:0 in a clash that is known as Ghana’s version of the El-CLasico at the Accra Sports Stadium Sunday.
Hearts scored in the 83rd minute thanks to a controversial penalty awarded by Referee Suka in the 82nd minute at a time Hearts had upped their game.
This is the first time in seven years the Phobians have won against Kotoko.
Asante Kotoko were highly motivated for the biggest fixture of the season as they were unbeaten this season, but fell to their rivals at the end of the 90th minute.
Hearts were poised to win the match to get back to winning ways after losing to regional rivals Tema Youth FC in the midweek.
Until this win, they had an unconvincing season with just two wins.
The two teams met in the pre-season G6 tournament semi-finals where Hearts won penalties shootout to eliminate the Porcupine Warriors.
